The Boston Red Sox takes a chance on another ball player who has had a pretty lousy last season. Brad Penny, playing on the disabled list last season, was just signed into a $5 million deal with the Red Sox for this year’s baseball season. He has had a tough season last year when he played with the Los Angeles Dodgers – the worst season in his baseball career, in fact. The previous season posted the worst winning percentage of Brad Penny’s career. Impaled with shoulder tendinitis and bursitis, Brad Penny pushed himself to his limits when he should not have. Instead of giving it a rest, Brad Penny continued playing for the Dodgers, going 6-9 with a 6.27 ERA. Admittedly, Brad Penny found it hard to accept his dismal performance in the wake of two of his most productive years on major league baseball. In 2007, he went 16-4 with an ERA of 3.03 and ranked third in the voting for the National League’s Cy Young award. During the same year, he made it to the All-Star team, just as he did the previous year. With a 4.33 ERA going 16-9 in 2006, Brad Penny made the All-Stars playing for the Dodgers. Penny is 94-75 in his nine-year baseball career with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Florida Marlins – Penny was in the roster when the Marlins won the World Series in 2003. Read more...
